Our Hub Fellow Kayleen Manwaring has been busy lately

Dr Kayleen Manwaring, UNSW Allens Hub Senior Research Fellow, presented her research on 'Repairing and sustaining the third wave of computing', at the Law Schools Global League Academic Conference, Transitioning to Net Zero, held at the Dickson Poon School of Law, Kings College London on 25 July 2023.

Kayleen was interviewed for, and was quoted in, an article in The Guardian Australia on ‘Google says AI systems should be able to mine publishers’ work unless companies opt out’ on 9 August 2023 (https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2023/aug/09/google-says-ai-systems-should-be-able-to-mine-publishers-work-unless-companies-opt-out).

Kayleen hosted a seminar in the Challenges for a Cyber-Physical World series, presented by Ana Ida Hudig of the University of Cambridge, on Transparency of the Consumer Internet of Things on 21 June 2023 (https://youtu.be/LvpX_kwk0Xc).

Kayleen was interviewed on Youth Jam Radio Perth relating to Period and fertility tracking apps on 26 June 2023.

Kayleen was invited to and attended 2 workshops held by the Commonwealth Department of Industry, Science and Resources seeking feedback on emerging issues in quantum technologies for the purposes of the Critical technologies challenge program (29 August 2023) and the proposed Australian Centre for Quantum Growth (4 July 2023).

Kayleen developed and taught a course to undergraduate and postgraduate students at the Law Schools Global League 11th Summer School on Global Perspectives on emerging technologies and sustainability, with colleagues from the University of Turin and the University of Pretoria, held at the Dickson Poon School of Law, Kings College London on 17-21 July.

Kayleen also taught an LLM course in Online Content Regulation for UNSW Law & Justice.
